Location: Schoenau (Germany)
Today we had a great interview with the mayor of Schoenau,Stefan Kurz, and his translator. He explained the impact that the 2018 Munich Winter Olympic Games would have on their community if they are awarded the bid in July. Schoenau would hold the bobsled, luge, and skeleton events. They already host World Championships and World Cups in these events and do not plan on much new construction other than a new hotel. The mayor told us that sixty percent of their tourist industry comes from May-Oct and forty percent during the Winter.

Location: Koenigsee (Germany)
After our interview, we walked down to the lake but did not have time to take a boat ride.

Location: Kehlsteinhaus-Eagle's Nest (Germany)
Next we took the bus up to the top of a 6,600 ft mountain and saw the Kehlsteinhaus which was built for Adolf Hitler as a surprise 50th birthday present. As you can see from the pictures, we had a beautiful view in all directions looking into Germany and Austria. The road up to the top just opened this past Saturday after the snow had melted.

Location: Salzburg (Austria)
Salzburg was only a half hour bus ride from Eagle's Nest. We were able to spend two and a half hours walking in the beautiful old section of Salzburg and had time for a beautiful dinner at a cozy restaurant, Wilder Mann. We returned back to our hotel at 8.30 in the evening.
Tomorrow we will have our interview with the Garmish-Patenkirchen Mayor Thomas Schmid.
Great pictures Dad, especially of the mountains. Keep them coming!
